This year’s competition received a total of 9 entries from Seremban, Kuala
Lumpur, Ipoh and Perlis, with the conspicuous absence of representatives from
Selangor Working Dog Club (SWDC) and Johor Working Dog Club (JWDC).
Nevertheless, an interesting and encouraging trend has emerged: a local trained
dog, A’sana von Skandinavika who was imported as a 4-month old puppy, shared the
same high score of 97 points in SchH1 Protection with an imported dog, Unkas
with SchH3/IPO3 title. These two dogs also scored high points in Obedience
with A’sana beating the other only closely. It is like bench-marking local
training to international standard and emerging with flying colors!
The other encouraging phenomenon is the quality of judging. Mr. Kabir
has proven that our faith in him was well placed. The judging was
precise, fair and transparent.
Both handlers of A’sana and Unkas who have
had wide exposures in international competitions gave the thumbs up and had no
complaints or disputes.
Over all we saw a high standard of competition and
judging and more importantly, the public display of true sportsmanship, which
was appreciated by the large spectator crowd.
Our guests from Penang Agility Association also had a successful outing
and are full of praises for the fine fellowship, smooth organization, generous
door-gifts, excellent venue and warm hospitality.
We will try very hard to
maintain these high standards to make Schutzhund Ipoh the premier Protection Dog
Sport event in the country.
We are thankful to our generous sponsors, all participants, members of the
Organizing Committee and the heavenly power that gave us two days of fine
weather amidst weeks of heavy downpours!
