After a resounding successful Schutzhund Ipoh
2007, much unnecessary politicking dampened the post-trial jubilation!
Suffice to say that much more need to be done to make Schutzhund a well-accepted
dog sport in the country.
The small community must stay united and focused and not indulge in politics
which will kill the sport before it has even taken root. We must strive to be
self-reliant and most importantly, in my opinion, observe the true spirit of
Sportsmanship. Commercialization is inevitable but sportsmanship must not
be compromised in the Schutzhund Trial field. Compete for the sake of
competing, not to win at all costs! Even the best-trained dog has its off
day and it will likely be on the all-important trial day! We should be
humble enough to accept the criticism of a foreign judge that our dogs are good,
but our standard of training is not yet up to mark. Humility,
sportsmanship and a strong desire to learn and improve are, in my humble
opinion, the key requirements to be successful in this difficult dog sport.
We are glad that
Tigerland K9 Academy has made this joint Schutzhund-Agility
Trial with
Penang Agility Association possible. Agility is an attractive
spectator dog sport and a joint event can only be more entertaining to the
public, exposing them to the different facets of dog training: the serious,
control-oriented Protection Dog Sport and the fun-filled, free spirited Dog
Agility!
Iskandar Polo Club Ipoh with its vast scenic field and tranquil environment is
most suitable for hosting events of such nature and we hope you will have an
enjoyable time here!
